FAQ  5 - IS FOOD AVAILABLE IN ZIMBABWE? "We heard that food had to be mailed from the US because it is not available there."

Answer:  Food is very scarce, some stores are absolutely empty and many have to purchase food from the street markets.  But food is available.  During September ’08, we purchased 8 metric tons of mealie-meal locally from a miller that was willing to sell us 60 more tons two days before we left the country. We now have trucks to travel to Botswana and/or Zambia to purchase food, if necessary, which is a second option.
